## How does a hot water heating loop work?

The boiler heats water, a circulator pump moves it up to the radiators or the floor and back, and an expansion tank, an air separator and a relief line keep the loop at a safe pressure. Rooms cold at the far end of the loop, banging or gurgling, or a pressure reading that keeps dropping all point to different parts, so say which you see.

## Which rules apply to a gas boiler in Ontario?

- **Who may work on it.** The TSSA says maintenance of furnaces and fuel-fired appliances must be performed by TSSA-registered contractors, with TSSA-certified gas technicians [(TSSA)](https://www.tssa.org/repeat-offender-convicted-unlicensed-gas-appliance-work-ontario-homes).
