What do I do first in a gas, water or heating emergency?

Smell gas: leave the building and call Enbridge Gas at 1-866-763-5427 or 911 from outside. Carbon monoxide alarm: get everyone out and call 911 from outside. Burst pipe: close the main water valve. No heat in a Toronto rental: tell the landlord. Then call Jackman Mechanical Ltd. at (416) 888-1371 for the repair, 24/7, in Toronto, North York, Mississauga, Markham and Ajax.

Who shuts the water off at the street?

If your main valve will not close or is broken, the water has to be shut off outside, and that is done by your city or region, not by a plumber.
